Focus

In a world where everything can feel urgent, few teams know how to bring focus to
their work. People often get so lost in the day-to-day tasks that they lose track of the
reason they are doing those things in the first place. Focus equips teams to navigate
the ever-changing, complex nature of organizations and elevate the handful of
priorities, targets and strategies that matter most.

How Focus Works

Bringing focus is about admitting that only a few things really matter. When you land on those few items, it’s important to go deep in solving them. Focus gives permission to stop doing the rest. Identifying the top priorities to focus on helps us concentrate on the bigger picture. When team members are aligned in their Focus, they will experience greater collaboration, and their collective efforts will be much more likely to drive vision and improve org health.

Building Blocks of Focus

Priorities: A set of goals at a defined Horizon that a team has determined are the most critical.
Horizons: The different time periods through which a team views Focus, such as 3-year, Annually and Quarterly.
Targets: The measurable desired result for each Vital for a specific Horizon
Quarterly Agreements: The time-bound team behavioral commitments needed to achieve Priorities and Targets, and build more cohesive teams.

Focus in Action

  • Clear strategic Priorities for long term and near term Horizons.

  • Clear and measurable Vitals Targets for each quarter and year.

  • High-impact behaviors that protect focus and honor Priorities.

  • Intentional practices designed to elevate what matters most and align efforts to the highest impact work.
