Rhythm

Rhythm leverages the power of habit to ensure the most essential strategic activities
are not left subject to chance. Rhythms enable teams to execute effectively and
achieve their vision. They create the space to pause, reflect, monitor progress, learn,
and adjust.

How Rhythm Works

Rhythms comprise the core set of interconnected patterns that act as keystone habits for the organization. Effective Rhythms equip teams with routines to maintain organizational health and drive a culture of belonging, collaboration, and trust. Rhythms only work if they are high-impact and recurring. To become habits, they require discipline and commitment.

Building Blocks of Rhythm

Operating Cycle: Set of foundational Rhythms that ensure the routine execution of essential operating activities. Three core components are:

The Annual Sync: Meeting to reflect on previous year and define success for next year
The Quarterly Sync: Meeting to reflect on previous quarter and define success for next quarter
The Weekly Leadership Meeting: Monitor progress, solve issues and align on actions

Rhythm design: When teams intentionally design their Rhythms, they ensure
the structure and agenda supports the objective and overall operating system.

Rhythm in Action

  • The team’s meetings, communications and processes drive intention. Every Rhythm is created for a reason and with a clear protocol.

  • Everyone clearly understands the Rhythms and their role in the Rhythms.

  • The team is disciplined and persists with their core Rhythms, even when work gets hectic.

  • Rhythms prioritize reflection and create space to reflect on past progress
    to learn.
